I am not sure why I added this movie to my Netflix queue. I can't remember if I read something about it or if someone recommended it to me, but it showed up in the mail the other day, so I sat down and watched it not knowing what to expect. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The movie starts as kind of a reverse Strangers On a Train. The variation in Alibi is that one stranger commits a "murder" and the other stranger who realizes it was an accident agrees to help him cover it up. As various pieces of the alibi/puzzle start to unravel we get some great revelations. Not everything is completely plausible (the police investigation of the car accident has the most holes), but that doesn't stop the film from being entertaining. Definitely worth a rental from Netflix.

(December 2006)
