Taken is an ambitious 10 episode miniseries produced by Steven Spielberg that aired on the Sci-Fi network in 2003. It tells an epic story of extra-terrestrials, UFO sightings and alien abductions. The story is told through three generations (1940's-today) of three different families. The Clark family whose mother had a intimate relationship with an alien that produced a son Jacob with special abilities, the Keyes family whose continued survival after multiple abductions intrigues the aliens and the Crawford family who run the military project in charge of discovering what the aliens want and covering it up from the public.

It starts over Germany during World War II when Russell Keyes and his whole flight crew are abducted and quickly moves to the UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. From there the story skips ahead 8 or so years at a time weaving history and great details in and out of the story. About half way through we reach modern day and this is when all the details and events of the past really start to come together.

The miniseries is filled with a bunch of great performances, but two stand outs I want to make special note of are Matt Frewer as a scientist working on the project and Dakota Fanning who is the key to the whole story (this isn't a spoiler). When she is on screen she is absolutely mesmerizing.

Taken is a long mini-series that is worth every bit of the time it will take you to get through it.
