50 Cent - Get Rich Or Die Tryin

50 Cent is definitely the hottest thing in rap right now. I knew this album was going to be a huge seller when I went to three different places the first week and they were all sold out. Is it that good? Yes and no. He mentions going for the New York crown against Jay-Z and Nas and although he may well end up selling more albums than those two (at least their most recent efforts) his skills are not really at their level. What he brings is an unstoppable personality to his ryhmes and the fact that he has surivived nine bullet wounds just adds to his mystique and his "street" credibility. As with many rap albums when it clicks it is outstanding, but the album definitely has a few "filler" songs and I actually wish there was a few more variations in tempo from track to track.

Best line on the whole album is actually on the Bonus Cut 'U Not Like Me'. ("Momma said everything that happened to us, was part of God's plan, so at night when I talk to him, I've got my gun in my hand.")

Downloads:
The first song is 'Patiently Waiting' which features Eminem. I didn't actually chose it for that reason as it is not Em's best vocal work (the phrase "A to the K" is so worn out I wish it could be banned altogether from people lyrics), but Eminem did produce a great track, with a very cool chorus.

Ja Rule and 50 Cent don't like each other at all and 'Back Down' would definitely be his Ja Rule dis song. Best Line, "you sing for hoe's and sound like cookie monster." Ouch
